We have an exciting opportunity to join South Staffordshire Core CAMHS as a CAMHS Practitioner. There are 2 posts available based with the CAMHS teams in Cannock and Stafford.
We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Practitioner (Registered Mental Health Nurse or HCPC registered professional relevant to Children's mental health - training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy). Our multi-disciplinary team includes a mix of Psychiatrists, Nursing, Social work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and support staff.
Deliver, as part of a wider Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) high quality, timely and comprehensive mental health service for children and young people (CYP) with a range of complex mental health needs. Focus on evidence-based bio-psychosocial assessment and nursing specialist interventions, working towards evidence-based recovery. Ensure the nursing profession is represented within the multi-disciplinary approach to care. Provide the coordination and collaboration in meeting the needs for a defined caseload working directly with CYP, their families/carers and external agencies.
Main duties of the job
* Provide specialist assessments of children and young people, based upon the appropriate use, interpretation & integration of complex data from a variety of sources.
* Be responsible for implementing a range of clinical interventions for children and their families, within and across teams, employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining formulations drawing upon different explanatory models.
* Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options based on theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
* Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and families.
* Provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients' formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
* Contribute directly and indirectly to improving the understanding of child and adolescent mental health.
* Offer medication interventions where appropriate.
The post holder:
* Will take a lead role in the development of clinical services for young people accessing CAMHS services, including those identified as requiring additional consultation.
* Serves as an essential nursing member of the MDT and will be able to facilitate the coordination of care on a multi-disciplinary basis.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse or HCPC registered professional relevant to Children's mental health. Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
* Additional qualification in Child & Adolescent Mental Health, inclusive of but not limited to: CYP IAPT, CBT, CBTp, Family interventions, CAT, DBT etc.
* Recognised appropriate qualification in mentoring/assessing/supporting students in placement.
* Non-medical prescriber V300 or working towards this.
Experience
* Evidence of extensive post registration experience working with those who may experience complex mental health needs in the community setting and working in an MDT.
* Experience of working with people who have difficulty in engaging with services and have complex mental health needs requiring care coordination and autonomous working.
* Experience of assessing and managing complex needs, including risk within a structured framework such as CPA/Safeguarding Children and familiarity in working in CAMHS.
* Experience of effectively managing mental health related issues/referrals/need for advice face to face and virtually including telephone at times of high demand and in relation to highly stressful/emotive situations.
