£20,000 - £25,000 a year
Posted: 2 October
Offer description

We are a family run business that has 2 nurseries & preschools in the Bristol area, one in Kingswood and one in Keynsham taking children from 6 months to school age.

At Orchard Lea Nursery & Preschool we are passionate about helping children get off to the best start in life.

The Role

We are looking for an apprentice to join our Kingswood (BS15) nursery team.

You will assist with activities to enable the children to progress their development, along with the EYFS framework. As an Apprentice you will be working towards a NVQ Level 2 or 3 in early childhood studies or equivalent.

The Nursey will support your study by offering paid non-contact study time. We have a great team to support you through your apprenticeship with team members who have progressed through level 2-5 NVQ.

As an Early Years Apprentice, you will use your own initiative in providing ideas, supporting different activities and interacting with the children, with full supervision and encouragement from our supportive team members.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about working in childcare, have the ability to work within a team and develop excellent relationships with parents whilst striving towards gaining their NVQ qualification.

What will you gain at the end of the apprenticeship?

At the end of your training, you will have a Level 2 or 3 qualification, valuable experience in your chosen career and have the opportunity to secure a permanent role in early years.

If you are looking to start your career in Early Years in a setting where you can really make a difference to children's lives then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Staff Benefits:

* Joining a busy and friendly staff team where your contribution is recognised with every day being different.
* Six weeks holiday pay including Bank holidays.
* Paid overtime and travel should you visit our Keynsham nursery.
* Staff uniform / training / DBS.
* Pleasant Staff facilities
* 30% discount if your child attends the nursery
* Time Off in Lieu for out of hours training. (TOIL can be banked)
* Pension scheme
* Staff enrichment programme.

We hope the above explains most of the role as advertised. Naturally on the job training and mentoring will be provided. As with many jobs they continue to evolve with time and can develop with your input.

Responsibilities

As part of your learning you will learn how to:

* meet children's social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs by providing stimulating and age-appropriate play and learning opportunities in the setting.
* supervise children where appropriate and to protect them from dangerous or harmful situations, as directed by senior staff/managers.
* contribute to a high level of care that will enhance the children's general health and well-being.
* support staff in providing a variety of outdoor activities to cover all areas of the children's development as well as supervising outdoor play in all weathers.
* be aware of any special needs a child may have and to familiarise oneself with relevant play and learning plans.
* carry out observations (where appropriate) linked to EYFS, and how to discuss the progress of children with the relevant key person and to contribute any ideas to informal & formal planning sessions.
* assist in the preparation of snacks, set up and clear away meal times and supervision of children during meal times.
* contribute to feedback.
* attend and contribute at staff meetings.
* share any child protection concerns immediately with senior staff/management
