Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join a unique and specialist team in a largely community-based post. Suitable for a Therapist (Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist) or Nurse, the role involves working with Paediatric and Adult patients across specialist and community care environments in the East of England, specifically covering Bedfordshire and parts of Hertfordshire.
Responsibilities
* Support the care of patients with genetic and acquired neuromuscular disorders, such as muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy and other muscle wasting conditions.
* Support regional specialist Neuromuscular Clinics at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and in other hospitals/clinical settings in the region.
* Provide coordination, advice and support for people living with a neuromuscular condition, their families and their carers.
* Work directly and semi-autonomously supporting people living with neuromuscular conditions in the East of England, alongside specialist neuromuscular teams at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and community-based Paediatric, Neurology and Therapy teams.
* Be based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital with opportunities for flexible working; many aspects of the role are managed via virtual platforms.
* Support specialist Paediatric and Adult Neurology Consultants, and paediatric neuromuscular CNS, in regional specialist Neuromuscular Clinics.
* Provide specialist condition-specific training and education to health, education and social care professionals as required to ensure maximally effective care in all settings.
* Deliver specialist advice and understand challenges related to identification, assessment, treatment and ongoing management of long-term conditions.
* Travel within the East of England; driving licence and access to a vehicle are highly desirable. Travel costs are reimbursed through the Trust’s expenses system. A business pool car provision is available for work-related journeys.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience delivering specialist advice and an understanding of challenges in identification, assessment, treatment and ongoing management of a long-term condition.

* The post is part-time and forms a regional service within a small, effective team.
* Role involves independent travel within the region and collaboration with specialist neuromuscular teams and community-based services.
