Overview
The Dawn Sailing Barge Trust seeks to secure the long-term future of the barge and to put her to best use to support local communities. The Trust has embarked on an exciting venture to use the barge as a mobile community hub.
What difference will you make?
As part of our Board, you will support and shape our strategic direction, helping us achieve our purpose of creating a meaningful community-oriented role for the barge, while protecting and promoting its heritage and engagement with sustainable initiatives.
What are we looking for?
* Motivated and engaged Trustees with experience in financial management, fundraising, health and safety, or general organisational management. A working knowledge of management within the community or voluntary sector could be beneficial but is not essential. Knowledge or background in the heritage sector could also be advantageous.
* Willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment; able to broaden the diversity of the board and bring a fresh perspective. Previous governance experience is not required—we will provide a full induction and training.
* Commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: accountability, honesty, integrity, leadership, objectivity, openness and selflessness.
What will you be doing?
* The Trust has secured significant funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to pilot a new operating model benefiting coastal communities; we will visit a number of coastal communities regularly and provide a hub for use by agencies specialising in health and wellbeing.
* As part of the Board, you will help provide guidance on the overall running of the charity. You are likely to lead activities in a specific area (for example fundraising, finance, community engagement, and health and safety) while also supporting effective governance.
