Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Guildford, Surrey Permanent | Term-Time Only (39 Weeks) â° (Monday–Friday)
Milk Education is working in partnership with a specialist education setting in Guildford, Surrey to recruit a committed and resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).
This role combines classroom-based support with work-related learning activities for students aged 5–19 with complex learning disabilities and social communication needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver planned learning activities in collaboration with class teachers
Support lesson preparation and classroom organisation
Lead small group and whole-class learning sessions where required
Provide mentoring and guidance to Teaching Assistants
Support students with complex behavioural and communication needs
Establish clear boundaries and positive behaviour strategies
Provide personal care where required, ensuring dignity and wellbeing
Support students during internal and external work-related learning placements
Promote independence, life skills, and engagement in vocational activities
Implement positive behaviour support strategies, including physical intervention where necessary (training provided)
Assist with transporting students where required (subject to assessment)
Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reviews
Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with SEND
Strong behaviour management skills and emotional resilience
Full UK driving licence is desirable.
Own transport desirable due to location
