Overview

The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of Surrey is seeking to recruit a full-time Lecturer in Cyber Security to expand our team of security faculty and researchers. This post is part of a strategic investment across the School in Cyber Security, AI, Robotics, and Satellite Communications. The Surrey Centre for Cyber Security (SCCS) has an international reputation in cyber security and resilience research, with strengths in applied and post-quantum cryptography, security verification and analysis, security and privacy, distributed systems, and networked systems. It is recognised by the National Cyber Security Centre as an Academic Centre of Excellence for Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR) and for Cyber Security Education (ACE-CSE). Surrey contributed to the University\'s strong REF2021 performance and has been recognised as Cyber University of the Year 2023 with further recognition anticipated for 2025. We also host a Doctoral Training Centre in Future Open Secure and Resilient Communications in collaboration with Queens University Belfast. This post sits within SCCS and invites applications in the areas of systems security, web security, cyber-physical systems, cyber resilience, ethical hacking, and machine learning for security. We welcome research with applications across diverse domains including communications, space, banking, and autonomous systems. Candidates with practical security experience and skills will complement our strengths in cryptography and formal verification. The post will support undergraduates and MSc Computer Science students, including the MSc in Cyber Security. The postholder will have the support of colleagues within the School and across the University to develop their careers, and opportunities to engage with cross-disciplinary institutes supporting cross-disciplinary research and training in which security research will feature prominently. The University of Surrey is committed to providing an inclusive environment that offers equal opportunities for all. We place great value on diversity and are seeking to increase the diversity within our community. Therefore, we particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups, such as people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and people with disabilities.
