This new full-time post is available immediately on a permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.

Summary of the role

As the Data Insights Lead you will be working closely with the Assistant Director - Data Strategy & Delivery and senior leadership team to take Exeter University on its data-informed journey.

Working in partnership with the Data Team and stakeholders across the university, you will spearhead the design and implementation of robust reporting solutions, acting as the Data and Insight Product Owner with support from the Product Chapter, thereby enabling Exeter University to become a truly data-enabled institution.

You will be responsible for supporting stakeholders to define their data needs and associated definitions, ensuring there is clear visibility of business questions and their prioritisation for report development. Leading a team of data analysts, developers and insights specialists, you will ensure reporting processes are established and functioning effectively and cohesively to enable the successful delivery of insight to those who need it.

There will be a close working relationship with the Data Modelling Lead, Data Literacy and Training Lead, Data Management & Governance Lead, and IT teams to ensure a common approach to data reporting and to ensure the appropriate technological solutions are in place to ensure reporting solutions can be created, deployed, maintained and shared effectively. Collaboration will focus on, but not be limited to, creating an end-to-end data reporting solution that is streamlined and efficient, and making it easier to discover, understand and access data.

About you:

You will have an excellent understanding of how to take data and turn it into valuable insight. Bridging the gap between the technical and business-focussed, you will have both a good understanding of information and data management across the entire data lifecycle, and how to find out which business questions that need answering with that information and data.

Your experience delivering effective data and reporting solutions will allow you to expertly oversee the product portfolio of the Data Team, providing vision and support to the team, and driving towards delivering the aims of the University's Strategy 2030 and Data Strategy (more information available on request).

Your communication skills and ability to work at both strategic and operational levels will inform the design of processes that will allow us to deliver excellent service to our users, such as the management of requests, provision of expertise to teams and project, and data quality and change management.

Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.

Apply via our university portal with your CV and a cover letter outlining how your relevant experience, skills and qualities meet the Person Specification.
