FBR Construction Recruitment Limited is seeking a qualified Civils Estimator for a long-standing, valued client currently operating on Commercial Projects for clients such as British Airways at Heathrow (5-year framework renewed January 2024), BHAFC Amex, and various Southern Water treatment plants.
They are also tendering on various local housing projects, including traditional housing and RC Frames.
Civils Estimator
The estimating role includes the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Contributing to the generation of tenders, proposing costs, and estimating resources for commercial and housing projects.
2. Taking full control of the tender enquiry process and being self-motivated.
3. Participating in winning contracts while minimizing risk and maximizing profit by estimating costs, negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting value engineering.
4. Assisting in preparing, validating, adjudicating, and submitting tenders, including minimizing subcontractor and material costs and communicating with external design, planning, commercial, and management teams.
5. Estimating costs to meet or exceed customer requirements, including obtaining and negotiating quotes with the support of the management team.
6. Building and maintaining relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors during the tendering and project fulfillment process.
7. Generating new leads for additional tender enquiries.
The ideal candidate will have experience in civils estimating for schemes and be based near Portslade at our client's office.
Applicants should possess the following skills and attributes:
* Good technical civil engineering knowledge and extensive industry practice.
* Excellent research, proposal writing, and oral presentation skills.
* Experience in a similar estimating role.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent numeracy skills.
* Experience with Conquest Estimating IT or similar software.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
* Confidence, positivity, and enthusiasm.
* Accuracy and timeliness in providing information.
* Valid UK driving license.
The package is dependent on capability and experience, including:
* Car allowance of £6,000 per annum.
* Participation in the Peoples Workplace Pension scheme.
* 20 days of holiday plus 8 bank holidays.
