Castell Howell Foods is Wales' leading independent food service wholesaler, servicing the length and breadth of Wales, the Border Counties and the South West of England. We currently have a vacancy for a Stock Investigator based at our Cross Hands depot.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Stock Investigator plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our inventory management system. This role requires someone highly organised who can proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies in stock levels, minimise losses due to inventory discrepancies, and maintain efficient stock control processes. The Stock Investigator will collaborate closely with various departments to uphold our commitment to excellence in food distribution and customer satisfaction. Duties include:
* Implementing a cycle-based process for stock counting across all locations
* Physically counting stock and supporting the warehouse team in achieving count cycle objectives
* Producing management reports related to stock adjustments
* Conducting detailed analysis of stock administration reports to provide insights for storage strategy decisions
* Investigating and explaining discrepancies in stock levels
* Performing daily, weekly and monthly checks for stock rotation and shelf-life
* Maintaining paper records for audit purposes
* Repairing and maintaining damaged stock, while implementing measures to reduce costs
* Collaborating with Cash & Carry, Telesales, and customers to handle damaged or short-dated stock at reduced costs
* Maintain knowledge of stock for purchase ledger and customer service queries
* Assisting buyers by identifying slow-moving or short-dated stock
Qualifications and Skills:
* Highly organised with a keen attention to detail
* Ability to work proactively and independently to investigate and resolve stock discrepancies
* Strong analytical skills to build and interpret stock administration reports
* Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various departments and stakeholders
* Familiarity with stock rotation and inventory management principles
* Basic knowledge of auditing and record-keeping procedures
* Problem-solving skills to identify and implement measures for reducing stock damages
* Proficiency in MS Excel and other relevant software
What we offer:
* A full-time position working Monday-Friday 07:00-16:30
* £30,580.87 per annum
* 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays. You may be required to work some Bank Holidays.
