Overview
As Professor and Director, the successful candidate will lead the Centre for Future Societies Research, a pan-University hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, dedicated to investigating how we can make the future world a better place. The post holder will build and sustain high-value partnerships with policymakers, funders, and organisations across academic, public, private and third sectors, and will play a central role in developing major funding proposals that align with institutional and national priorities. The post holder will foster an inclusive research culture to support postgraduate, early career and more senior researchers and, as an academic authority, enhance the University’s visibility on policy, practice and public discourse.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Centre for Future Societies Research as Professor and Director.
* Build and sustain high-value partnerships with policymakers, funders and organisations across academic, public, private and third sectors.
* Develop major funding proposals aligned with institutional and national priorities.
* Foster an inclusive research culture to support postgraduate, early career and more senior researchers.
* Enhance the University's influence on policy, practice and public discourse as an academic authority.
* Manage and contribute to strategic initiatives that advance the centre’s mission.
Qualifications and requirements
* Educated to doctoral level or equivalent training and experience to meet Professor policy and regulation requirements.
* Experience as a leader with a track record in income capture, research impact, knowledge mobilisation, and stakeholder engagement.
* Ability to build partnerships that drive innovation and influence policy, inspire teams, mentor researchers, and support postgraduate students.
* Experience in developing and managing major funding proposals.
* Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in research and leadership roles.
* Appointment may require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate.
* Upholding the University’s policies and regulations for professorships.
