My client based on the outskirts of St Ives Cambridgeshire are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join their team on a full time permanent basis. You will be providing support to the Sales and other teams in the company. You will plan and manage the sourcing, ordering and expediting goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company’s operational needs are achieved and will support in procuring materials and services considering price, quality, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.
1. This is an office-based position 5 days a week.
2. Hours: 8:00 – 17:30 Monday – Friday
3. Salary – £25-30,000 DOE
4. Own transport required for this position
5. This role would suit you if you have held a role within purchasing or procurement as a Junior Buyer, Purchasing Assistant / Controller, or Expeditor.
Key responsibilities:
6. Work with buyers, planner, and production to identify gaps and delays in the delivery of components.
7. Engage with suppliers to co-ordinate timing, resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues, communicate and feedback to the team.
8. Provide and update relevant Reports as necessary.
9. Attend production and sales meetings.
10. Perform admin duties, maintaining accurate records following policies, procedures, instructions, and guidelines.
11. Work with production to meet planning requirements, update the system and reports to reflect any changes or impact.
12. Run and action monthly reports for end of month and new month.
13. Communicate with the line manager to evaluate and assess vendors and their performance.
14. Notify all stakeholders of scheduled delivery dates to ensure continuity of supply.
15. Manage and purchase stock levels of production consumables.
16. Look for cost downs in procurement of goods and services to improve overall budget savings.
17. Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken to all supplier & customer relationships, and meetings are reported back to the team.
18. Training and guidance will be given where required.
19. Be willing to learn new skills and undertake new duties relevant to the role.
What we are looking for:
20. A minimum of two years’ experience working within purchasing
21. Exposure to or knowledge of electronic industry
22. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
23. Excellent IT skills including Intermediate Excel skills.
24. Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems desired.
25. A strong eye for detail.
26. Ability to prioritise own workload.
27. Ability to work well on your own initiative and as part of a team.
28. Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
29. Willingness to work if required in other areas of the business.
