Role: Buyer (Lead) & Assistant Buyer
Location: Central Bristol
Salary: assistant £28,000 – £42,000 / Senior Buyer £40,000 - £50,000

We are hiring for two key roles within our growing Procurement Team:
• A Procurement Officer / Buyer to lead operational procurement and supplier strategy
• An Assistant Procurement Officer / Buyer to support tactical sourcing and orderbook management
Both roles sit within a Bristol-based Engineering & Defence SME delivering complex manufacturing and critical services to Rolls Royce and the MoD. Following recent MoD contract wins, we’re expanding our supply chain capability to support growth.

Procurement Officer (Lead Level)
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead day-to-day procurement operations and supplier performance oversight
• Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships
• Negotiate terms, contracts, and KPIs with suppliers
• Support tendering and sourcing aligned to project deliverables
• Drive ERP accuracy, pricing integrity, and orderbook performance
• Resolve supply chain risks and critical path issues
• Contribute to strategic sourcing and pricing portfolio development
Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years’ procurement experience (Defence sector preferred)
• Degree-level qualification (or working towards)
• CIPS membership desirable
• Strong ERP/MRP skills (IFS preferred)
• Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC)
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Assistant Procurement Officer (Entry/Mid-Level)
Key Responsibilities:
• Convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders
• Prepare and review RFQs, recommend preferred suppliers
• Maintain supplier relationships and support performance improvement
• Manage goods-in and invoice queries
• Ensure ERP data accuracy and pricing validity
• Support tendering and sourcing alongside Procurement Manager
• Assist in resolving supply chain bottlenecks
Requirements:
• Degree-level qualification (or working towards)
• Project management experience in procurement (Defence sector preferred)
• APM membership desirable
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills
• Microsoft Project familiarity (desirable)
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
