Senior Gas Engineer

As a Senior Gas Engineer you'll:
Gas Safety Case Management:
* Lead the creation of the LHUK Gas Safety Case in collaboration with the Gas Safety Manager (GSM) and a nominated third party.
* Ensure the Gas Safety Case is maintained to a high standard and all requirements are carried out.
Compliance and Safety:
* Ensure all gas works are fully compliant with current Health & Safety regulations.
* Produce high-quality risk assessments, method statements, safety programs, and Gas Permits to Work.
* Reduce the number of corrective actions (CARs) raised and close existing CARs within agreed timescales.
Maintenance and Project Management:
* Support the effective and timely delivery of statutory, mandatory, and reactive maintenance and gas-related projects.
* Maintain and update records as required.
* Plan and program remedial works to ensure compliance and repair.
Competence Assessment:
* Assess the competence of Gas Skilled Persons for appointment and review their experience and performance before re-appointment.
* Suspend the appointment of Skilled Persons if necessary and ensure they are aware of any restrictions related to their work.
Sub-Contractor Management:
* Ensure sub-contractors are members of required bodies such as EUSR for Networks, Network construction qualifications, and commercial gas registration.
Leadership and Compliance:
* Lead by example across the contract by achieving objectives and consistently demonstrating the Company values
What we're looking for:
Essential
Qualifications:
* Relevant (or working towards) gas safety qualifications (, Gas Safety Manager certification or equivalent).
* Health and Safety certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH are highly desirable.
* Commercial Gas qualifications
* Gas Technology – Responsible Person (Gas) – Ministry of Defence (MOD) – Preferred
* Safe Control of Operations (SCO Modules 1-5) - Preferred
Experience:
* Proven experience in gas safety case management or a similar safety-critical role within the technical services industry.
* Proven experience in maintaining and working on commercial gas systems and equipment
* Experience in producing risk assessments, method statements, and safety documentation.
* Demonstrated track record in managing compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Experience assessing and managing the competence of gas-skilled personnel.
* Proven ability to influence and support project or programme management activities, particularly in planning and delivering gas-related works and completing remedial actions.
Technical Knowledge:
* Strong understanding of gas safety regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
* Knowledge of statutory, mandatory, and reactive gas maintenance and project requirements.
* Familiarity with relevant gas industry bodies and certification schemes (, EUSR, commercial gas registration).
Skills:
* Excellent leadership and communication skills to influence and lead teams effectively.
* Strong ability to influence programme planning and delivery to ensure timely completion of remedial and maintenance works.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially relating to safety, compliance, and project execution.
* Proficient in preparing high-quality technical documentation and reports.
