GC/MS Analytical Chemist

Hours: Monday – Friday
Salary: £30‑35,000 depending on experience
Our Client, a growing national testing company, is looking to recruit an experienced GC Chemist to work at their modern site in Doncaster. The successful person is likely to get rapid career progression as the lab is in its infancy (increased service offering).
Responsibilities
* Preparation, analysis, interpretation and quantification of organic contaminants using GC‑FID/GC‑MS
* Maintaining an up‑to‑date knowledge of new testing techniques within the market
* Develop analytical methods as necessary, identifying opportunities to improve runtime, quality & detection limits
* Preparation of samples may require solvent extraction techniques such as SPE
* Interpretation and quantification of organic compounds using relevant software on PC
* Analysis of samples using GC/MS‑FID using relevant software and instrumentation
* Responsibility for instrumentation, general, preventative and advanced maintenance and performance monitoring and trend monitoring of the instruments carried out
* Analysing samples and performing maintenance and troubleshooting
* Recognise problems and take corrective action
Qualifications
* Will hold a degree in a relevant chemistry‑based field
* Experience of working within GC‑MS – essential
* Experience of method development – desirable
* Experience of UKAS assessments – highly desirable
* Proven industry experience as a GCMS Analyst for a sufficient period of time – essential
* Excellent attention to detail and be able to prioritise work to specified deadlines
* Good communicator
