We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Business Partner to support Redditch Borough Council on a 6‑month interim basis. This role plays a key part in delivering financial leadership, supporting Section 151 responsibilities, and driving strong financial governance across the organisation.
The Role
You will lead a small team providing financial planning, budget monitoring, business partnering, and strategic financial advice. The role also supports the development of corporate financial policies, MTFP work, and major transformation projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead revenue and capital budget monitoring for designated service areas.
Support annual budget setting and the Council's Medium Term Financial Plan.
Produce and oversee the HRA rent‑setting process.
Interpret new legislation/funding changes and assess financial impact.
Complete statutory returns, grant claims, and audit information.
Provide high‑quality financial advice to senior officers and elected Members.
Develop and deliver financial training across the Council.
Drive continual improvement of finance systems and processes.
Essential Experience
Significant Local Government finance experience (revenue, capital, statutory returns, MTFP).
Proven experience managing and developing a finance team.
Strong business partnering skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Experience presenting complex financial information to non-finance audiences.
Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
Experience working to tight deadlines in a complex environment.

Duration: 6 months
Rate: Flexible
