It is crucial for this role that the individual is a capable communicator as well as being a technically competent accountant.
Core Responsibilities
Month‑end close, complex journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and IFRS reporting.
Support audits and internal controls work, including SOx-related processes.
Perform financial statement fluctuation and variance analysis.
Analyse and Interpret GL data to ensure accurate revenue/expense recognition.
Manage auditors to ensure compliance with local audit requirements including participation in internal control walkthroughs.
Record property acquisitions and related transaction entries.
Review bank reconciliations, AR balances, and vendor invoice coding.
Support rental income, service charge, insurance and property tax processes.
Analyse leases including straight‑line rent calculations.
Partner with third‑party property managers and internal stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement across reporting and reconciliation processes.
Use Yardi and Blackline to enhance data quality and workflow efficiency.
Support onboarding of new acquisitions as the European portfolio expands.
Required Skills & Experience
ACA/CIMA/ ACCA qualified or equivalent.
Working in Real Estate within a core finance / accounting role.
Preferably practice trained accountant
2–4 years PQE (or equivalent experience) with recent experience in real estate.
Real estate experience is essential — ideally commercial real estate, REITs, investment managers, or a service provider such as IQ‑EQ, CBRE IM, or similar.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, with exposure to IAS 16 and accounting for investment property leases.
Experience with Yardi and/or Blackline advantageous.
Ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment, managing deadlines across multiple jurisdictions (UK, EMEA; Dutch GAAP also beneficial).
High standard of written and verbal communication — able to work cross‑functionally and engage confidently with stakeholders.
Experience identifying and implement process improvements / automation.
Detail‑oriented, organised, and motivated to improve processes rather than simply maintain them.
