The role will focus on providing expert heritage and conservation advice on planning matters affecting heritage assets, including Listed Buildings, non-designated heritage assets, and Conservation Areas. You will contribute to complex planning and Listed Building applications, appeals, and enforcement investigations, as well as supporting the Development Management Team through consultation responses and assisting with policy development relating to the historic built environment. The successful candidate will have strong experience in built environment conservation within a local authority setting and a thorough understanding of heritage legislation, policy, and best practice. Experience dealing with Listed Buildings, Conservation Areas, Conservation Area Appraisals, and Buildings at Risk will be beneficial. Applicants should be able to work independently while collaborating effectively with planning colleagues, elected members, and stakeholders. The role will suit someone who can operate at a senior level and provide leadership and expertise within the council’s conservation function.
