BASIC FUNCTION:
The Seasonal Groundskeeper (CMV driving position) contributes to the success of Brookfield Zoo Chicago ("BZC") by performing routine grounds duties such as park clean-up, paper picking, lawn mowing, waste removal, and mulching under supervision to maintain cleanliness, beauty, and aesthetics, ensuring an exceptional guest experience.

Minimum age of 18 and a valid driver’s license are required. The position operates typically from April to December, with a schedule of 5 days/40 hours per week. Shifts may be early (6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) or late (8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. or 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. in summer), including special event hours, with days off usually on Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Seasonal groundskeepers perform duties including:
1. Park cleaning, garbage collection, and grounds cleanup.
2. Horticultural tasks such as mowing, watering, weeding, and planting.
3. Grounds maintenance including sweeping, raking, blowing, minor repairs, and pathway mulching.
4. Operating and maintaining equipment like mowers, blowers, small tractors, and trucks.
5. Following safety procedures and inspecting work areas for hazards.
6. Collaborating with team members, assisting guests, and providing information about park schedules and activities.
7. Maintaining a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
8. Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Minimum 18 years old.
* Ability to work effectively with diverse audiences.
* Valid driver’s license required; CDL license may be required.
* Medical authorization for commercial driving responsibilities.
DESIRABLE/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma or GED.
* Experience in groundskeeping or horticulture.
* Multilingual skills, especially Spanish, a plus.
