Pay rate – £35 per hour Contract – Temporary Barnsley Borough Council are currently recruiting an experienced children’s Social Worker for their Duty & Assessment team. This is a fixed contract for 3 months to cover a sickness within the team. We're looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and committed professional social worker to join one of our four Assessment Teams. Co-located with the police at Wombwell Police Station, the Assessment Teams complete assessments with children and families within 40 working days and collaboratively with the family determine the right intervention. Once the plan has been agreed, the family will either close to Children’s Social Care or transfer to the relevant service area, Early Help services or long-term social work teams. The four teams are on a rota for being on duty allocations for one week and then spend three weeks “off duty” and complete and assessments and develop plans for intervention where needed. This is a short-term service with a focus on timely quality assessments which consider need and risk. Children’s Social Workers will need at least 3 years’ permanent experience with an English local authority and to be registered with Social Work England, as per DfE rules.
