Consultant Rheumatologist Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Rheumatologist based at North Tyneside General Hospital, supporting the delivery of a Trust-wide multidisciplinary Rheumatology Service.

Main duties of the job The posts will be flexibly time‑tabled to meet the demands of the service and the timing of sessions may change as the service develops. The full‑time working week will consist of 10 Programme Activities (PAs), separated into:
Direct Clinical Care (Outpatient clinics, admin and clinical MDT meetings): 8.5 PAs
Supporting Professional Activities: 1.5 PAs
The Trust supports requirements for continuing professional development as laid down by the Royal Colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
Responsibility for medical appraisal by acting as a lead/primary appraiser within the service and ensuring that all medical staff within your service undertake an annual appraisal in line with the Trust's Medical Appraisal Policy and GMC standards.
Job responsibilities
Provide Rheumatology services to the population of Northumbria and develop a special interest to complement the other members of the department.
Manage personal workload to achieve service contract levels and participate in cover on a shared basis with colleagues for annual, sickness and study leave.
Maintain continuing clinical responsibility for patients and facilitate contact with delegated staff for patient care.
Communicate organisational priorities effectively to colleagues and staff, and engage constructively in organisational discussions.
Balance loyalty to the service and the organisation through corporate behaviours, anticipating change in the wider health economy and the Trust’s constraints.
Qualifications
MRCP
Full registration on the UK General Medical Council's Specialist Register for Rheumatology; or Specialist Registrars may apply if within 6 months of CCT at date of interview.
Full accreditation with the appropriate Royal College
Full GMC Registration
Educational qualification appropriate to the role
Experience
Clinical training and experience in Rheumatology equivalent to that required for entry to the UK Certificate of Completed Training (CCT).
Experience and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
Experience and commitment to medical audit and audit management.
