Responsibilities as our Estates Maintenance Technician will include:
* To unlock and maintain appropriate security for the main College sites
* To carry out emergency security repairs where possible
* To promote security awareness on the establishment, particularly during College closure periods
* To carry out painting and decorating duties on campus
* To operate the heating and hot water plant (where applicable).
* To ensure that recommended temperatures are maintained throughout all buildings
* To carry out non-specialist and routine maintenance for heating boilers, water pumps, sump pumps etc
* To ensure proper safety precautions are observed in boiler house(s).
* To deal with, or arrange to be dealt with, all burst pipes, leaks, flooding, fires, blockages, breakages, as appropriate. To liaise with Assistant Estates Manager. as necessary
* To carry out work under some or all of the following headings (training will be given where required)
o general repairs (door handles, fire door closures, etc)
o joinery (furniture repairs, desks, chairs and other minor joinery work)
o plumbing (tap washers, ball valves)
o glazing at ground floor (upper floors where accessible)
o minor painting
o floor maintenance
o To keep the Estates helpdesk up to date.
As our Estates Maintenance Technician, you’ll ideally have:
* A good general standard of education
* Have some working experience of general maintenance and repair work (especially painting and decorating, carpentry, plumbing and basic electrical work)
* Good working knowledge of small hand tools
* Good understanding of Health & Safety
* Punctual and reliable
* Ability to manage own time effectively
* Be flexible and able to work unsupervised and as part of a small team
* Be fit and able to carry heavy loads and work in all weathers
