Overview
Fighting With Pride (FWP) is looking for an outstanding regionally focused LGBT+ Veterans Community Worker covering the East of England. Initially for a period of 16 months, the role is full time, fixed term, and involves some face-to-face activity across the East of England. The position is based in the East of England, with partial remote working. The salary is £29,400 per annum based on 37.5 hours per week.
FWP is a registered charity formed in January 2020 to support LGBT+ Veterans, serving personnel and their families. The post is funded by The Bridge for Heroes under an agreement with the Armed Forces Covenant Trust. The role will be supported by an LGBT+ Veterans Community Team Manager and the Executive team at FWP.
Responsibilities
* Signpost service users to organisations where they will receive a warm welcome and support their self-esteem, self-confidence, independence and resilience.
* Work with partner organisations to enable positive LGBT+ inclusion for veterans, serving personnel and their families.
* Highlight access to the scheme of reparations arising from the Etherton Report.
* Collaborate with a national team of VCWs and report to the LGBT+ Veterans Community Team Manager and Executive team.
Person Specification / Qualifications
* Keen interest in and thorough understanding of the challenges faced by the LGBT+ Veterans community (or related communities).
* Previous experience of supporting and developing service users.
* Strong relationship-building skills and a self-starter approach with a passion for helping people.
* Willingness to work across the East of England with some face-to-face activity and occasional travel as required.
