About the Role
The Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer is a key position within the IT department. Reporting to the Head of IT you will ensure all IT Services continue to always be available with specific emphasis on cyber security and integrity of our systems. To act as the technical engine room, this role focuses on the high-level execution of server, cloud, and network tasks as directed by the Head of IT.
Responsibilities
* Technical Implementation: Lead for the hands-on deployment of server, storage, and complex network hardware.
* Network Execution: Responsible for the L2/L3 switch configuration and physical troubleshooting (Cisco and HP) in strict adherence to the standards set by the Lead Operations Engineer.
* Cloud & Platform Management: Hands-on management of Azure and AWS tenants, Snowflake platform support, and virtualised server cluster management.
* Operational Integrity: Directly responsible for the execution of Backups and Replication, ensuring all data is captured according to the Lead’s strategy.
* Compliance Execution: Implements technical controls and security patches to ensure all infrastructure adheres to INEOS Group standards.
* Systems Lifecycle: Manages the server build process, hardware refreshes, and virtualisation (Hyper-V/VMware) including cluster management.
* Documentation: End to end documentation of full estate to be established and kept up to date regularly. Strict version and change control required.
* Backup Execution: Daily management of backup jobs, troubleshooting failures, and off-site/cloud rotation.
* Security Operations: Executes vulnerability scans and performs server hardening in line with the security policies.
* Emergency Response: Provides technical execution during Black Building tests, Major Incidents, and DR invocations.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Previous experience in Infrastructure and networking 2nd/3rd Line Senior Infrastructure role essential.
* Relevant degree and industry experience.
* Hands on, quick learner and have the ability to communicate change in non technical jargon to the user base.
* Experience of working with third party security providers.
* Experience of excellent Service delivery would be preferred.
Technical Skills
* Detailed understanding of external connectivity paths, third party relationships, SLAs and performance monitoring.
* Excellent understanding of core network (LAN/WAN), security and infrastructure components (Azure).
* Advanced understanding and experience of virtualisation and clustering/Autopilot technology Microsoft (OS, Hyper-V).
* Strong working knowledge of Windows Server 20xx, RDP, AD, MS Exchange, Hyper V, VMware, PowerShell (advanced).
* Strong hardware knowledge (HP, Dell, Leonovo Servers) and Dell/HP laptops.
* Good knowledge Manage Engine suite of products (Service Desk, Manage Engine, deployment package, patch management).
* Hands on experience of SAN management (NetApp, Lenovo, Dell) preferred.
* Experience of Carbon Black end point protection and monitoring.
* Experience in ITIL and Project Management is desirable.
* Preferably attained CISCO and Microsoft qualifications.
* Previous cloud experience including Azure, Google, AWS desirable.
