Electrical Control Design Engineer
Job type: Permanent
Our client, an engineering company, is seeking an EC&I Design Engineer for a permanent position in St Helens (hybrid). This role is within highly regulated environments, such as nuclear, defence, oil & gas, or power generation.
Role
This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, based at the control panel manufacturing facility in Haydock, with the option for hybrid working. As an EC&I Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical EC&I designs of electrical control panels and related systems.
Main Responsibilities
You will manage and complete the EC&I engineering and design of projects, support construction during manufacturing, and handle change control. You will understand customer requirements and translate these into engineering solutions. Client-facing responsibilities include managing client expectations regarding project scope, and effectively carrying out, checking, and approving engineering and design estimates. You will also control and report all costs related to project progress, scope changes, and man-hours.
Experience & Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications/experience.
* Minimum of 5-10 years of professional engineering design or technical specialist experience.
* Experience with AutoCAD packages, including Eplan, AutoCAD Electrical, and familiarity with AMTECH.
* Knowledge of electrical engineering with experience in developing, testing, and evaluating engineering designs.
* Ability to meet UK security clearance criteria due to the nature of the work.
Advantageous Knowledge: Low Voltage switchgear design, control/automation system design, Motor Control Centre design, variable drive system design.
