Junior Buyer | Leeds

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Junior Buyer on behalf of a leading chemicals distributor based in Leeds.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong supplier relationships, working accurately in a fast-paced environment, and supporting a busy purchasing team.
What you'll be doing...
In this role, you will support the purchasing function by sourcing materials at the best price, managing stock levels, and ensuring the smooth flow of goods through the supply chain.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
Negotiating pricing and delivery terms
Managing stock levels in line with business requirements
Raising purchase orders with approved suppliers
Providing accurate pricing to UK and Export Sales Teams
Completing daily Out of Stock reports
Booking collections and liaising with shipping and suppliers for documentation
Proactively managing slow-moving stock and quarantined materials
Working with Business Managers on assigned product portfolios
Providing cover for the Purchasing Administrator and other Buyers as required
About you...
We are looking for someone who brings the following:
Must have:
Strong computer literacy, including Word and Excel
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work under pressure
Customer service experience
Nice to have:
Dynamics 365 experience
Negotiation skills
Purchasing or supply chain experience
Chemical industry knowledge
Supplier development experience
CIPS qualification
A chemistry or science-related degree
