Design Build Search is seeking an experienced Design Manager on behalf of our client based in the London Docklands.
As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the design process across multiple construction projects. This role ensures that all design elements align with project goals, budgets and timelines.
This role is best suited to an individual with previous main contractor experience managing the design for Data Centres, Life Science or Manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the design process from concept to construction.
* Manage and coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP design consultants throughout all project phases.
* Review drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness and constructability.
* Act as point of contact for design-related matters with clients, ensuring the design developments is on program to allow construction to progress.
* Ensure all design disciplines are aligned and integrated in a timely manner to allow team review, comment and follow up.
* Report design & engineering progress in client meetings highlighting any concerns or risks to the project.
* Review and critique design documents for accuracy, constructability, code compliance, and alignment with project budgets and schedules.
* Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements without compromising
design intent or quality.
* Review quality plans and ensure procedures are implemented on site, including design risk assessments as per the project requirements.
* Identify and resolve design issues to avoid delays while ensuring compliance with building regulations and standards.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
* Minimum 7 years of experience in design management within the construction industry, preferably with a general contractor.
* Data Centre experience is desirable.
* Strong knowledge of design software systems (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and construction processes
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
