This role is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract (FTC) based at our Chadderton, Oldham location.


Purpose of the Job

The Senior Quality Engineer is a key member of the Quality Department, facilitating growth and ensuring robust quality controls and activities across the Rotork Manchester site.


Key Responsibilities and Outcomes

1. Active involvement in Customer Concerns/Complaints/Queries, driving root cause identification, corrective actions, and preventative actions.
2. Use problem-solving techniques to investigate external and internal issues. Root Cause, Corrective & Preventative Actions: Problem solving techniques, internal and supplier issues.
3. Create visual awareness of quality metrics and communicate to the business. Work with the Quality Manager to develop KPIs to underpin objectives. Drive activities to meet objectives and communicate & engage effectively with the business.
4. Devise methodologies for improving process inspection & verification. Work with the Operations team to improve inspection and verification through control plans, visual SOPs, poke yoke, visual standards, quality alerts, gauges, and calibration adherence.
5. Develop and execute a process audit plan. Devise process audit formats and plans to engage the workforce and identify non-conformities.
6. Implement methodologies for establishing "cost of quality"—scrap, defects, returns, complaints, non-value-added activities. Identify, track, and reduce through structured methodologies. Control quarantine levels.
7. Create and implement Quality Control Plans with relevant team members.
8. Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to departmental methodologies, processes, and procedures. Perform vertical audits to identify opportunities for improvement.
9. Ensure timely management of internal and external system and product non-conformities.
10. Conduct and manage product/process and system audits.
11. Support and facilitate continuous improvement activities within the site, working cross-functionally with other departments.
12. Develop and implement significant improvements in department-wide processes, procedures, and systems.
13. Support NPI projects as required, working closely with other departments to ensure successful introduction into production.


Qualifications & Technical Knowledge

Essential:

* Minimum of 5 years relevant quality experience (with a degree), or 10 years relevant quality experience (without a degree).
* Experience within a customer-facing environment, with knowledge of NCR management and utilization of a wide range of quality tools.
* Understanding of various quality tools and methodologies, e.g., PPAP, CAPA, 8D, 5 Why's, SPC, Six Sigma (DMAIC), Lean Analysis, Pareto charts, and statistical data.
* Understanding of NDT, chemical and physical processing, CNC machining, and CMM inspection.
* Experience working in prescriptive environments such as Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Automotive, Nuclear, Project, or Infrastructure.
* Experience utilizing Lean Six Sigma techniques to improve operational performance.
* Experience operating MRP/ERP systems.
* Experience supporting NPI projects.
