As the public face of our properties, you’ll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about the property, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit.
Salary: £13.25 per hour (£7,751.25 per annum)
Contract Duration: Fixed term until 30th June 2027, with the possibility of extension
Working Hours: 585 hours per year. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. This equates to an average of 11.25 hours of pay per week.
Working Pattern: Your hours will fall between 12:00pm and 5:00pm, Wednesday to Sunday. In Week 1, you will work 2 days (9 hours), and in Week 2, you will work 3 days (13.5 hours). This pattern will then repeat. You will be expected to remain flexible to cover annual leave in both the Vestibule and Reception, including Bank Holiday Mondays, when the hall is also open. You will work with colleagues to ensure adequate cover and that the mansion is staffed on all open days. The mansion operates from March to October, open Wednesday to Sunday (including Bank Holiday Mondays). It also opens for four weekends at Christmas (Friday to Sunday) and is closed from December to February. During the winter period, your hours will be worked in Reception.

What it's like to work here
Reporting to the Welcome Manager, you’ll be part of a team of the visitor welcome team working at Speke Hall. The roles will be predominantly based at the Vestibule of Speke Hall mansion, but you will be fully trained in the reception area to support the team in the event of emergency staff cover and for working in reception in the winter months, when the house is closed.
You will be responsible for welcoming our visitors and giving them an exceptional greeting to start their visit. You will manage the amount of people entering the mansion at any one time to ensure the hall doesn't become overwhelmed. You will play a key part in supporting our house volunteers within your working day.
What you'll be doing
Day to day, you’ll deliver a great all-round customer service experience. You’ll be on hand answering queries and listen to what our visitors need so you can share the right information. Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can. You’ll have the chance to be involved in different aspects of the visitor experience, from key property events to social media promotion - no two days are the same. Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. This role would suit anyone with enthusiasm for delivering great customer service.
