As an Apprentice Embedded Software Developer, you'll be curious about how embedded solutions can support our defence sectors. You'll work on diverse projects spanning a range of domains from array processing, sensor development electronic warfare and beyond – allowing for the opportunity to learn a broad range of technical skills.

Roke is a leading technology and engineering company with clients spanning National Security, Defence and Industry 4.0 through our Futures business and Intelligence-as-a-Service. You'll be joining Embedded Solutions within the CEMA (Cyber & Electromagnetic Activities) team of our Defence Business Unit. Embedded solutions is core to our defence Electronic Warfare applications, specifically Communications Resilience, Electronic Surveillance, Electronic Attack, Counter-IED, and RPNT (robust positioning, navigation & timing).
The Key Requirements...
* Typically, candidates will have attained A-level standard or equivalent in maths and at least one further STEM-based subject such as physics, ICT, computing or electronics.
* Strong mathematical skills and an aptitude for applying mathematics to real problems. Whilst some mathematics can be learnt as part of the apprenticeship, it is essential that applicants have a solid foundation and a desire to grow their knowledge.
* A desire to learn about both hardware and software development. It is not necessary for applicants to have experience at this time, as these skills will be learnt during the apprenticeship, but a keen interest to develop skills in at least one of these areas is required.
* Proven ability to learn

Alongside hybrid and flexible working options, you'll find our Romsey site located within beautiful Hampshire countryside, close to the picturesque New Forest District and not far from a superb stretch of the south coast. This is no corporate concrete jungle; this is a manor house site, with ample parking an on-site gym and a driveway full of daffodils in the spring.

Due to the nature of this position, we require you to be eligible to achieve BPSS and SC. As a result, you should have resided in the UK for the last 5 years and prepared to declare any travel that includes being out of the UK for more than 28 days in the last 5 years.
