Risk & Compliance Officer (12-Month FTC)

RedLaw is working in partnership with an international law firm to recruit a Risk & Compliance Officer for its London office on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the firm’s global risk and compliance function, supporting colleagues across Europe, APAC, and the US. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Senior Client and Matter Inception Manager, AML & Sanctions Manager, the MLRO and other senior stakeholders.
The role will focus on AML, counter-terrorist and proliferation financing, and sanctions compliance. In addition, the officer will contribute to a firm-wide project to strengthen new business intake procedures and ongoing client monitoring processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide guidance and support to stakeholders to ensure compliance with AML, CTF, and sanctions regulations and internal policies.
* Respond to AML due diligence queries and perform screening using the firm’s online PEP and sanctions tools.
* Conduct detailed research on PEPs and high-risk clients to produce reports for management review.
* Work with the Client Relationship team to obtain and verify client identification documentation.
* Maintain compliance registers and records, including oversight of the firm’s stop list to reduce insider trading risks.
Skills & Experience
* At least one year’s experience in AML, CTF, and sanctions compliance within a UK law firm.
* Solid understanding of the Money Laundering Regulations, Proceeds of Crime Act and the SRA Handbook.
* Strong analytical and research capabilities, with advanced Excel skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to liaise across jurisdictions and at all levels.
* Highly organised, detail-driven, and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial awareness and sound judgment.
* Collaborative team player with adaptability and a commitment to high professional standards.
