Overview of Department
The Human Resources department provides support and advice to managers and staff on HR and Development matters. Some of our key focus areas include recruiting staff, providing support for team and personal training and development, anticipating future resource needs of the organisation and ensuring that our reward and benefits packages are competitive.
Purpose of Role
At Baillie Gifford, we believe in the power of long-term, active investing to add value for our clients. We're seeking a visionary Development Consultant to join our HR department and partnering directly with one of our business areas, devising and delivering talent and development priorities collaboratively and with a focus on the intended impact.
Reporting to the Lead Development Consultant, you will contribute to the diagnosis of development needs, followed by the creation, implementation and evaluation of a variety of development activities.
You will spend most of your time with your aligned business area. You will also be part of a wider talent and development community, sharing knowledge and supporting firmwide initiatives.
Responsibilities
This role is perfect for someone who can blend creativity with strategic thinking to nurture and develop our people and drive our success as a firm. In the role you will:
1. Consult broadly with your aligned business area to diagnose development needs
2. Collaborate with leaders to envision and create innovative talent development and learning strategies that align with our long-term investment philosophy, supporting the relevant Learning and Development Groups
3. Coach individuals and teams in defining development needs and goals, supporting them to design and action milestones which genuinely enhance their skills, knowledge and personal contribution.
4. Design and implement creative learning experiences that challenge our people to think differently and see beyond the obvious, fostering continuous growth
5. Facilitate dynamic sessions to enhance team effectiveness, using a blend of psychometric tools and your own inventive techniques, including team coaching
Qualifications:
6. Relevant professional qualifications such as CIPD Associate Diploma in Organisational Learning and Development, and/or coaching accreditation with a willingness to pursue additional qualifications or accreditations.
7. Accredited in psychometric tools such as Clifton Strengths and Facet 5.
Your knowledge and experience:
8. Curating Learning: Be a guardian of our learning philosophy, infusing it with fresh, creative approaches that resonate with our teams
9. Exhibiting Progress: Diagnose development needs at the department and team level. Track and showcase the impact of initiatives, through compelling narratives and data
10. Collaborating: Working closely with the aligned HR Business Partner, Development Coordinator, subject matter experts and other talent & development specialists to create a rich tapestry of learning opportunities
11. Coaching: Eliciting, listening to and supporting individuals and teams to define impactful goals and take personal ownership for achieving them
The ideal candidate will bring:
12. A portfolio of experience in learning initiatives and talent development. This need not be within financial services, but you will have a dynamic interest in investments.
13. A proactive, adaptable mentality and an ability to prioritise and self-organise.
14. A creative mindset that can translate complex concepts into engaging learning experiences, that are both technical and behavioural.
15. The ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels, from Modern Apprentices to senior partners.
