Job summary

Medicare EMS is welcoming applications for a full-time vehicle technician to support the maintenance of our frontline and event ambulances.

The role of the vehicle technician is essential for maintaining our frontline and event fleet.


Main duties of the job

Our vehicle technicians are a fundamental part of our business, ensuring that our fleet undergoes pre-planned maintenance, servicing, health checks, and repairs safely and promptly. This includes unplanned repairs to keep vehicles roadworthy and operational.

You will diagnose faults, develop appropriate plans to remedy issues, order necessary parts, and update the operational management team on fleet status.

You will also carry out pre-MOT checks to identify potential failures and prevent delays in MOT approvals across the fleet.

You will attend at one of our four frontline operational bases as part of your role.

We hold various contracts across the UK, including events at The O2 Arena, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Wembley Stadium, Wembley Arena, and Manchester Arena. We operate 36 racecourses and have frontline contracts with NHS Ambulance Services.

Job responsibilities

* Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance, vehicle checks, and repairs.
* Handle unplanned repairs to ensure fleet remains roadworthy.
* Perform minor body work and electrical repairs as needed.
* Change and repair tyres.
* Conduct pre-MOT checks and repairs as necessary.
* Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment for fault diagnosis.
* Research and source cost-effective parts and supplies.
* Ensure all vehicles are MOT'ed and taxed at all times using our fleet maintenance system.
* Manage your workload to keep vehicles operational and safe.
* Maintain accurate records through job cards for each service and repair.
* Address vehicle defect reports promptly and close them once resolved.
* Comply with statutory waste disposal requirements, including waste oil, filters, batteries, etc.
* Attend breakdown calls as required.


Person Specification


Qualifications (Essential)

* Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 3 penalty points.
* IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
* Knowledge of mechanical/electrical maintenance procedures, preferably with relevant training or qualifications.


Experience (Essential)

* Extensive post-apprenticeship experience in vehicle mechanical engineering.
* Experience working in a busy, dynamic environment.


Desirable

* Experience in ambulance service settings.
* Experience working on Renault Masters.
