Role Overview
As a Construction Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to teachers and students in workshop and classroom settings, delivering individualized learning packages, ensuring safety, engagement, and progress.
Responsibilities
* Workshop Support: Assist construction teachers in all activities, including preparing, maintaining, and clearing tools, equipment, and materials.
* Skills Guidance: Demonstrate and guide learners in basic construction skills and trade knowledge, reinforcing safe working practices at all times.
* Student Mentorship: Provide 1:1 and group mentoring to help learners stay engaged, build confidence, and progress through assessments and practical competency tests.
* Operational Readiness: Maintain a safe, organised, and well‑equipped workshop, including monitoring stock levels and preparing resources and displays.
* Pastoral Care: Support positive behaviour management, pastoral care, and learner wellbeing, liaising with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
* Employability: Accompany learners on site visits, work experience, and industry‑related trips to enhance their real‑world understanding.
About You
* Organised and Proactive: Highly organised, reliable, and proactive in maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
* Practical Interest: Possess experience or a strong interest in construction and a willingness to actively support practical, hands‑on learning.
* Soft Skills: Effective communication, organisational, and time‑management skills to manage various support tasks.
* Welfare Commitment: Committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children, and willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) and complete Child Protection Training.
