The role:
We’re looking for a Lead User Researcher to lead and develop our user research discipline as part of the experience design team at Bupa.
As the team is relatively new, you’ll be able to help shape the user research discipline here.
You’ll help to embed user research in Agile product teams of varying maturity and lead the team in all aspects of user research and definition of best practice across the product lifecycle and within projects.
Part of your role will be to lead and coach a team of user researchers who work in a multi-disciplinary squads alongside Product Designers, Product Owners and Delivery Managers. We partner with development teams, and are working on ways to bring research, design and dev closer together.
You’ll lead high profile projects and briefs as an expert practitioner to help grow adoption of user research across teams at Bupa.
You'll help build, grow and maintain relationships with other research departments, evangelising research across the business.
How you’ll help us:
You’ll lead the user research team at Bupa and help it grow and evolve.
Being an expert practitioner; you’ll plan, design, and lead research activities with users that help teams get a deep understanding of the people that use Bupa’s products and services.
You’ll help align user research activities across several squads, ensuring that they take a user-centred approach and ensure good user research practice.
You’ll be an advocate for the user research discipline, engage with the wider design community, and build relationships with product, delivery and marketing teams.
You should be able to coach and mentor other user researchers in the team to improve and evolve our user research practice.

You understand organisational goals and challenges. You can align research activities across teams to inform backlogs to drive customer centricity across multiple products and projects. You can advocate for user research and engage sceptical colleagues and stakeholders.
Technical understanding.
You know about the technologies used to build and operate digital services. You can communicate and collaborate closely with colleagues in different disciplines.
User-centred and agile practices.
You understand and have experience of a range of user-centred practices. You can help inexperienced teams adopt user-centred practices and embed them into their agile workflow.
