The Role
This is a senior-level Electrical / Controls Systems position with responsibility across the full machine lifecycle - from concept design through to commissioning.
You will work closely with mechanical design engineers and development teams to deliver robust, compliant and high-performing machine control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Electrical control system design (schematics, panel layouts, BOMs)
* PLC programming (Siemens and/or Allen Bradley)
* Motion control and servo integration
* HMI system development (PC-based systems advantageous)
* Machinery safety system design (EN60204 and relevant standards)
* Integration of electrical and mechanical systems
* Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) support and commissioning
* Provide technical support to service teams and customers when required
* Project reporting into the Engineering Director
This role would suit someone comfortable working autonomously within an SME-style engineering environment.
Requirements
Essential:
* Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering
* 6+ years’ experience in industrial automation or special purpose machinery
* Strong electrical design capability (Eplan preferred)
* PLC programming experience (Siemens or Allen Bradley)
* Experience working on bespoke machinery or capital equipment
* Understanding of machinery safety standards
Desirable:
* Motion control / CNC system exposure
* Experience with Wonderware, LabVIEW, or PC-based HMI systems
* Commissioning experience
* Multi-disciplinary project experience
