This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and friendly person with excellent interpersonal skills to act as the Secretary to the Friends.
The chair, treasurer, and committee of the Friends are volunteers. The secretarial role is the only paid employee.
In this role you will act as a link between the hospital and the Friends, maintaining regular contact with the Chair, Treasurer and the committee, and promoting a high profile for the charity within the hospital.
Key responsibilities include:
* Maintaining regular communication with the Chair, Treasurer and committee members.
* Acting as a point of contact for the Friends via telephone and email.
* Responding promptly to calls and emails, keeping enquirers updated and escalating queries, problems and general issues to appropriate staff.
* Promoting the work of the Friends to a wider audience, including occasional outreach to local groups and receiving donations in person.
* Promoting goods sold by the Friends to fundraise for the centre (e.g., Christmas cards, notepads, pens).
* Providing written information for the website and social media channels.
* Liaising with and helping those who wish to fundraise for the Friends, organising collecting boxes and writing letters of thanks.
* Showing a caring and professional approach towards patients, relatives and carers.
* Recognising when a query is clinical and urgent and escalating appropriately.
* Organising and planning tasks, demonstrating excellent IT skills adaptable to various programmes and platforms.
* Engaging with patients, relatives and staff in the Friends’ office close to the Reception area, fostering a supportive environment.
