We are currently supporting a consultancy who are on the lookout for an Azure Data Engineer to join a high-profile public sector programme on an initial 3-month rolling contract. This role will play a key part in designing, developing and maintaining robust data solutions across both legacy and modern cloud-based systems.
This is a hands‑on engineering role suited to someone comfortable working in complex, regulated environments and delivering scalable, production‑grade data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain ETL pipelines across legacy and modern data platforms
* Build and optimise data workflows using Azure Data Factory
* Develop scalable data solutions within Microsoft Azure
* Support Power BI reporting by delivering high-quality, well‑modelled datasets
* Collaborate with architects, analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
* Ensure data quality, governance and security standards are maintained
Qualifications
* Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data services
* Proven expertise with Azure Data Factory
* Solid experience developing and maintaining ETL pipelines
* Experience working with Azure Data Lake and related storage solutions
* Power BI data modelling and backend support experience
* Experience implementing CI/CD for data projects
* Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric (essential)
* Experience working within the public sector
* Strong understanding of data governance and working in regulated environments
* Experience integrating legacy systems into modern Azure environments
* Knowledge of DevOps practices in Azure
* Familiarity with security and compliance standards within public sector environments
