About the RoleWe are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing Building Services team based in Ipswich. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of projects across the education and residential sectors, contributing to the delivery of innovative, efficient, and sustainable designs.You will be involved in projects from initial concept through topletion, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging directly with clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design electrical systems for building services projects, including:Lighting and emergency lightingPower distributionSmall power and containmentFire alarm and life safety systemsData andmunications systems
2. Produce calculations, specifications, technical reports, and drawings
3. Support projects through all RIBA design stages
4. Undertake site surveys, inspections, and client meetings
5. Coordinate designs with mechanical engineers, architects, and contractors
6. Ensurepliance with relevant standards and regulations (, BS 7671, Building Regulations)
7. Contribute to low-energy and sustainable design solutions
About You
8. Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
9. Experience in electrical design within the built environment
10. Exposure to education and/or residential projects is advantageous.
11. Experience using design software such as AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), Amtech, Dialux, or similar
12. Good working knowledge of UK standards and regulations
13. Strongmunication and organisational skills
14. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable Skills & Experience
15. Working towards Chartership (IEng or CEng)
16. Interest in sustainable design / low carbon technologies
17. Experience in BIM environments
