Chief Operating Officer

Our client, a family investment office with assets in private capital, real estate development and funding, is seeking to appoint a Chief Operating Officer.
Acting as the right hand to the CEO, the position of COO is a senior, strategic leadership role responsible for driving the financial, operational, and organisational performance of the family office. The individual must be a proven leader, capable of shaping a high-performance culture, optimising team output, and ensuring clarity, discipline, and commercial excellence across all areas of the organisation.
Objectives
* Deliver highly accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting to support confident decision-making
* Establish a culture of data intelligence, ensuring advanced, technology-enabled financial insight
* Optimise working capital, protect liquidity, and secure appropriate funding and financing
* Lead clear analysis of risk, returns, value creation, and timing to support investment strategy
* Present a clear strategy for growing assets under management
* Build and constantly develop a robust allocation strategy
* Build, lead and optimise a high-performance team through clear delegation, accountability, training, recruitment and, where necessary, decisive performance management
* Ensure compliance across regulatory, tax, HR and operational domains
* Drive structural and operational simplification across the family office
* Oversee the performance and development of all employees and contractors, ensuring capability, attitude, and cultural alignment
* Ensure operational excellence across facilities, technology, and the household environment

The idea candidate will have
* Proven leadership experience in senior finance/operational roles
* Demonstrated ability to optimise teams through clear delegation, coaching and decisive performance management
* Strong understanding of building a performance culture and creating a positive work environment
* Experience producing board-quality financial insights, dashboards and modelling
* Strong technical understanding of finance, investment, treasury and compliance
* Experience negotiating with banks and external partners
* Strong people skills. Able to build trust, manage conflict, and influence at senior levels
* Experience hiring based on attitude and cultural fit, not only capability
* Ability to step in and cover CEO during leave and absences
