Job overview

Bolton NHS Talking Therapies Service are currently seeking a CBT Therapist, to join our friendly and supportive team. We are looking for someone with CBT experience who is looking to deliver high quality CBT and develop through regular supervision, CPD and a range of training opportunities to support career progression.

We are one of the national Talking Therapies services delivering cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based psychological interventions, through a stepped care treatment model to people in the community with common mental health problems.

The role will include delivering both face to face and remote appointments. We are a Stepped care service and work closely with other services in the Bolton area.

Main duties of the job

The responsibilities within the role include, but are not limited to:

1. To formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes across a range of complex problems with which clients present
2. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients in line with the service
3. Provide supervision to other staff involved in the provision of psychological services including day supervision

Education

Essential criteria

9. Qualification from High Intensity IAPT Course (Post Graduate Diploma) OR Equivalent: A recorded/registered doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology/ a recorded/registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy or a psychological therapy – plus further post graduate diploma qualification in CBT from a recognised or accredited training provider
10. significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences as required.

Desirable criteria

11. Training in an additional therapeutic modality.

Experience

Essential criteria

12. Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services
13. Relevant experience in Primary Care settings treating anxiety and depression-related problems
14. Ability to meet agreed/specified activity and service targets
15. Ability to manage own caseload and time
16. Demonstrates high standards in written communication
17. Experience with routine outcome monitoring
18. Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers

Desirable criteria

19. Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
20. Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups

Knowledge

Essential criteria

21. Have an understanding of the need for, and current limitations of, evidence based psychological therapies
22. Possess knowledge of child and adult safeguarding procedures and other relevant legislation

Desirable criteria

23. Have knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria

24. Have full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competence framework for CBT (Roth and Pilling 2007)
25. Have well developed communication skills to effectively communicate, often complex and sensitive information, information orally and in writing.
26. Have received training in assessing risk (either formal of through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of their expected practice.
27. Be able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients

28. Accredited with a professional psychological therapy organisation

Essential criteria

29. There is a frequent requirement to travel, mainly within the local area, in order to provide clinics. An occasional requirement to travel across the wider footprint of the Trust to attend meetings and events relevant to the role.
30. An awareness of the diversity of the local population and a positive attitude to meeting the needs of different communities.

Desirable criteria

31. Experience of working with diverse communities and within a multicultural setting

The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
