We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Clerical Officer to join our dynamic administrative team. This role plays a key part in supporting our clinical services and colleagues in a fast-paced environment. The role is based at Aintree Hospital and provides comprehensive administrative support to the inpatient and outpatient clinical services in the Diabetes & Endocrinology Department.
Responsibilities
* Provide quality comprehensive administrative support to clinical services in the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department.
* Coordinate outpatient clinics, including booking, confirmation, and scheduling of appointments.
* Provide administrative support to clinical and nursing colleagues to ensure a seamless patient service.
* Coordinate clinic sessions to enable patients to access appropriate clinical teams quickly and effectively within national targets.
* Conduct template reviews of diabetes and endocrinology clinics to maximise slot utilisation.
* Manage utilisation of diabetes and endocrinology clinics and adjust slot allocations to support priority and demand.
* Add referrals to EPRO and manage new referral and waiting‑list entries to the IPM system for specialised clinics.
* Handle doctor queries and provide support with the AI predictor tool.
* Book ambulances when required and manage patient arrivals at reception on a rota basis.
* Oversee diabetes & endocrinology clinic Intouch outcomes and clinic cancellations.
* Manage bookings of appointments in chronological order within the national RTT target.
* Act as the front‑desk point of contact for patients attending the centre.
* Manage telephone calls from patients and GPs, addressing queries and actioning requests.
* Perform general administrative duties including printing blood labels for patients.
* Support the senior management team and participate in safeguarding and DBS related processes.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant area.
* Previous NHS experience with knowledge of NHS – iPM, ICE, and Choose & Book systems.
* Strong IT skills and ability to use clinic electronic systems.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Previous clerical experience in a clinical environment.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect patient information.
* Self‑motivation to work on own initiative and collaboratively with a team.
* Current employee of a LAASP organisation.
* Must be willing to submit a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) reference as required under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
