Senior C++ Software Engineer
The position
We are searching for a high-calibre Senior C++ Software Engineer to join our Durability Centre of Excellence in the UK.
You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing high-quality software solutions in C++. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovative projects with global impact in a collaborative, agile environment.
Primary responsibilities
In this role you will be working on:
* Design, implement, and maintain C++ applications and libraries.
* Lead and participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
* Optimize software for performance, scalability, and reliability.
* Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership.
* Investigate and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.
* Contribute to continuous integration, deployment, and DevOps practices.
Professional qualifications and experience
* Excellent college or university degree (master's/diploma/doctorate) in Computer Science or equivalent, demonstrating excellent analytical and conceptual skills / mindset.
* Proven successful delivery of working software in a complex working environment using Qt framework.
* A good working knowledge of secure coding practices.
* Prior experience of mechanical engineering, vibration or fatigue analysis and signal processing would be an advantage but is not required.
* Proficient professional software development experience with C++ (C++11/14/17 or later).
* Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
* Experience with multithreading, low-level memory management, and performance tuning.
* Proficient with version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern development workflows.
* Experience with cross-platform development (Windows and Linux).
* Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
* Experience working in SAFE, Agile, and / or Scrum teams.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
