Job summary
Plowright Surgery in Swaffham is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, on a part time basis for hours per week,who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
1. Processing all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GP's and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme;
2. Ensuring that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor;
3. Collecting all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient;
4. Processing Hospital Letters;
5. Processing Dossett Boxes;
6. Managing stock ordering and stock control;
7. Preparing monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau;
8. Answering and dealing withdispensary phone enquiries;
9. Monitoring patients exemption status;
10. Sorting and disposing of unwanted/returned medication;
11. Any other duties assisting in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the Dispensary Manager or Practice Manager.

Equidistant to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn and the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital in Norwich, around 30 minutes from the University of East Anglia and the Nursing & Midwifery School. Plowright is a dispensing practice with c. 6500 patients across 2 sites, an award winning premises at our Swaffham main surgery and branch surgery at Necton, 5 miles currently utilise EMIS Web and Docman software Systems, however we will be migrating to TPP System One in August 2024. We have a 'Good' CQC rating, achieve high QOF points and have an excellent reception, dispensary and admin support teams.

15. Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification.
Experience

16. At least 2 years (or equivalent) dispensary and pharmacy experience;
17. Excellent clinical and medication knowledge;
18. Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting;
19. The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career;
20. The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making;
21. The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach;
22. Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
