Dermatology Consultant

This appointment is for 2 Consultant Dermatologists on a permanent contract. You will be joining the University Hospitals Dermatology Team, consisting of 7 other consultants, at an exciting time as the cross-site teams are coming together. Subspecialty interests will be encouraged and supported.
Main duties of the job
This appointment is for a Consultant Dermatologist to join the newly merged, dynamic Dermatology team at University Hospital Dorset. The team delivers the full range of Dermatology services to patients from Dorset and Hampshire from two well-resourced units at Christchurch Hospital and Poole Hospital.
Funding is available for two full-time posts, with flexibility to consider part-time applicants. We welcome subspecialty interests including Mohs micrographic surgery, medical dermatology, and/or pathology. Flexibility is provided for this post to allow a consultant to sub-specialise, or for an associate specialist to complete training for CESR application.
Qualifications and Training
* Full GMC registration
* MRCP or equivalent
* Higher degree (e.g., MPhil, MD, or PhD) – score 1 in progress, 3 submitted, 5 awarded
Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude
* Ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities
* Ability to manage and lead a wide range of staff involved in a cohesive Dermatology service
* Evidence of formal training in health service management
* Previous experience on policy‑forming committees
* Evidence of organising an audit programme
* Understanding of research methodology and ability to interpret research findings
* Publications in peer‑reviewed journals
* Evidence of audit management
Experience
* Able to offer an expert opinion on a full range of dermatological problems
* Extensive training in general internal medicine and dermatology
* Ability to recognise limits of own clinical competence
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
* Able to perform within a multi‑disciplinary team
* Evidence to demonstrate delivery of a quality service
