Additional Needs Teaching Assistant – Torfaen
Location: Torfaen, South Wales
Pay Rate: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

A fantastic opportunity has become available to join a secondary school in Torfaen as an Additional Needs Teaching Assistant, supporting pupils within a dedicated Special Needs Resource Base (SNRB).
This is a full-time role starting in September 2025, during school hours (8:30am–3:30pm). The position offers both challenge and reward as you work directly with students who need extra support with their learning and development.

About the Role:
You’ll be providing essential support to students aged 11–16 who have a range of additional learning needs, including:
* Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
* ADHD
* Behavioural and emotional needs
* Low literacy and numeracy levels
* Nurture and social development challenges
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Working 1:1 or in small groups with pupils to build confidence and improve focus
* Supporting life skills development and helping pupils engage with everyday routines
* Assisting with reading, writing, and basic numeracy interventions
* Creating a safe, inclusive learning environment with the guidance of the class teacher
* Using your initiative and creativity to adapt activities to meet pupils’ individual needs
This role is particularly well-suited to someone calm, empathetic, proactive, and confident working independently as well as part of a team.

* Comfortable supporting students with complex needs
* Passionate about inclusion and making a positive impact in pupils’ lives
Experience with SEN, behavioural needs, or youth support is desirable, but not essential. The most important qualities are your attitude and willingness to learn.
