Overview
Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery with a fellowship interest in Foot & Ankle at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH), in partnership within the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group. The post supports substantial trauma workload and expansion of foot & ankle elective services at NANOC, working alongside 3 existing foot & ankle surgeons. The appointee may work across multiple hospital sites as service needs evolve.
Main duties
The appointee will carry out the full spectrum of arthroscopic and open foot and ankle surgery. Experience in diabetic foot management and ankle replacement surgery is advantageous. The role includes participation in on-call duties, with an intensity of 1 in 18 on a 6‑weekly cycle, and involvement in the mechanisms and systems of a Major Trauma Centre as the Trust develops toward MTC status in the coming years. The successful candidate will contribute to team delivery and development of the foot & ankle service and share in flexible working patterns and multidisciplinary teamwork.
Qualifications
Essential
* FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent
* Accreditation in Orthopaedics and GMC specialist register at or within 3 months of appointment
* Fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery with considerable operative experience
* Compliance with Trust Child Safeguarding training requirements (within one month of taking up post)
* License to Practice

* Fellowship level training in trauma management
* Current ATLS provider certification

* Significant experience in all aspects of general trauma surgery and subspecialty orthopaedic surgery (logbook)
* Willingness to work in shared office space and within a multidisciplinary team
* Enthusiasm for teaching; strong team-working skills
