Attendance Officer (Part-Time)

KSB 20hrs per week - £11534.83 pro-rata (FTE £25126)

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Attendance Officer to join our team and play a vital role in improving school attendance and outcomes for our pupils.
The Role
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, safeguarding leads, families, and external agencies, the Attendance Officer will be responsible for promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school, in line with current Department for Education (DfE) guidance.
This is a key role supporting early identification of attendance concerns, building positive relationships with families, and helping remove barriers to regular school attendance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Monitor and track pupil attendance and punctuality daily, identifying patterns of concern
2. Maintain accurate attendance records in line with statutory requirements
3. Follow up on unexplained and persistent absences promptly, including first-day calling
4. Work with parents/carers to support improved attendance, using a supportive and solution-focused approach
5. Support the implementation of the school’s attendance policy and procedures
6. Liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Lead where attendance concerns may indicate safeguarding issues
7. Prepare attendance data, reports, and correspondence as required
8. Work with external agencies and the local authority where appropriate
9. Promote a culture of high expectations for attendance and punctuality across the school
10. Ensure all work is conducted in line with safeguarding, data protection, and confidentiality requirements

11. Has experience of working in a school or similar setting (desirable)
12. Has a good understanding of attendance, inclusion, and safeguarding responsibilities
13. Can work confidently with families and professionals, sometimes around challenging issues
14. Is well organised, accurate, and confident using school management systems
15. Is calm, professional, and committed to supporting children’s well-being and success
