We are looking to engage services with an experienced Piping Designer to join our team on a short-term contract basis. The Piping Designer will provide additional services as part of our Hessle based Piping Department within a multi-disciplined engineering team and report directly to our Lead Piping Engineer.
Responsibilities:
* Preparing design drawings and documents from engineering data and specifications in accordance with project, company, client standards and procedures.
* Generating 3D models and piping design using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
* Preparation and checking of all piping design deliverables such as piping GAs, nozzle orientations, Isometrics, pipe support drawings, piping MTO, Tie-in schedule, nozzle connections, mechanical details etc.
* Review of P&ID and civil/structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation drawings.
* Review of vendor drawings for Equipment / Package item.
* Ensuring job tasks are correctly performed in compliance with agreed budget and schedule.
* Thorough awareness of international codes and standards for piping design.
* Consistently maintaining a high level of technical deliverables, ensuring that the output meets QMS standard and is consistent in terms of quality and content.
* Maintain suitable records of correspondence and work completed for reference and auditing purposes.
Skills and Experience Required:
* Minimum of six years of experience of an engineering design environment in the chemical industry or experience of working on petrochemical / oil and gas projects.
* Experience of detailed design projects.
* Strong experience in 3D modelling with the use of AutoCAD Plant 3D or PDMS (must be proficient 3D user as minimum requirement).
* Ability to check piping design in a 2-D and 3-D environment. Formal training in AutoCAD Plant 3D or PDMS would be beneficial.
* An ability to resolve technical issues in a timely manner whilst maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
* Effective communication skills with a willingness to share knowledge and support others within the larger project team. With the ability to focus on customer requirements.
