A specialist school is seeking a resilient and experienced 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support a pupil joining the school shortly.
The school supports children and young people aged 2–19 years with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and additional needs. Many pupils require tailored support to help them develop their communication, emotional regulation, independence and social skills. Staff work collaboratively to provide a structured, nurturing environment where pupils can thrive and achieve their potential.
The school operates across a large, well-resourced site, providing specialist learning spaces and facilities designed to support pupils with a range of learning needs.
The Role
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work with a Year 6 pupil who will be joining the school shortly.
The pupil has a Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) profile and can display aggressive behaviour at times, so the role requires someone who is calm, patient and able to manage challenging situations positively.
Responsibilities may include:
Providing 1:1 support in the classroom and around the school
Supporting the pupil with learning activities and engagement
Helping the pupil develop emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team
Supporting the pupil’s social development and independence
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs who is confident, consistent and able to build positive relationships with children who require additional support.
Requirements
Knowledge or experience supporting children or young people, ideally with SEMH or behavioural needs
Strong resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
A caring, patient and supportive approach
Ability to work as part of a wider school team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
