Overview
Would you like to be part of a new, exciting and innovative service working with young people with an ethos of prevention and early intervention? In line with the government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the new Mental Health Support Teams (named by children and young people in the region as Wellbeing in Mind teams) are an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England. We currently have 5 Wellbeing in Mind teams across North Yorkshire, embedded within education settings. We are looking to recruit a new Education Mental Health Practitioner to join a team delivering support to schools in the Selby area. Applicants must have successfully completed the 1 year Post Graduate Certificate 'Education Mental Health Practitioner' course and be registered with either the BABCP or BPS.
Responsibilities
* Support the development of a whole-school or college approach to wellbeing, including policies, resources, campaigns, training, assemblies and PHSE curriculum.
* Provide timely advice and consultation to education staff to build skills and confidence in addressing students’ wellbeing needs (formal and informal).
* Undertake direct assessments and intervention for young people within education, offering a low intensity service model predominantly using cognitive-behavioural therapy.
Each function accounts for a third of the teams workload. Travel across the locality is essential, and access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes is required. Adjustments can be considered under the Equality Act 2010 where necessary.
Qualifications
* Essential: Successfully completed BPS Accredited or HEE Approved academic course for Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) and registered as an EMHP with a regulatory body (e.g., BPS or BABCP).
* Essential: Evidence of working with young people experiencing emotional distress affecting mental health; experience delivering low intensity LICBT interventions; experience in an education setting; ability to write clear reports/letters; ability to manage own caseload and time; competence in risk assessment; able to develop therapeutic relationships; understanding of how emotional distress presents in young people and how evidence-based therapies apply to this post.
* Personal Attributes: Enthusiasm, teamwork, openness to clinical supervision, ability to work under pressure, respect for autonomy/confidentiality, and self-reflection.
* Desirable: Fluency in languages other than English.
